A SONG OF DELIVERANCE
by Hollie Vaughn
2 Samuel 22:1-20
Our Problems
These words were written by David. He had went through some great trials and he wrote this as a song of praise to God. God had delivered David time and time again from his physical enemies (King Saul, Goliath…) and his spiritual enemies (sin, depression, backslidden state…).
2 Samuel 22:19
"They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay."
When we are in distress, and dangers surround us on every side, we need to call out to God.
2 Samuel 22:7
"In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears."
The enemy is too strong for us to fight, but not God. He hears the cries of His children. He comes to our rescue and uses His omnipotent power on our behalf. God brings us out of the troubled waters and into a large place, or a safe haven.
2 Samuel 22:20
"He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me."
When we see God for who He is, as David did, it becomes much easier to trust Him.
God is our Rock, our Refuge, our High Tower, our Shield, and our Salvation.
There are times that we find ourselves in the same situation...overwhelmed and blinded by our battle.
It may be your marriage, a specific sin you are struggling with, a wayward child, or a physical affliction.
No matter the circumstances the answer is always the same….JESUS!
His deliverance may be different each time and for each person, but His presence never changes. His desire is to draw us closer to Him in the midst of our trial. He is our Safe Haven.
I encourage you this week to find a song, claim a Bible verse, or write a poem. Something that you can keep close to your heart as a reminder of God's ever-presence in your life.
You can turn your problems into praise.
