THE SHADOW OF SELF DOUBT
by Molly Spence

A woman’s mind can grow to feel like a maze; as women, we at times find ourselves questioning each little detail in everything we do; each bit of human interaction that we have.
We spend hours obsessing over who our friends are,
what their opinions of us are (or what we suppose they think),
sadly only giving space to the quietest whisper that tries to tells us who we are… lies filled with a venom potent enough to instill self doubt.
The way we dress,
the way we conduct ourselves,
our hair and makeup… all of this is affected when we just don’t feel good enough.

How many of you have had moments where you don’t feel good enough?
You feel as though you don’t belong in a certain crowd of people?
The sad part about self doubt is that its initial impact can even begin in childhood; wounds that were not a child’s fault can build a distorted perception.
Have you ever felt envious of what someone else has?
Have you ever tried to force something to happen just to have it blow up in your face?
A most striking question is:
Have you ever felt a nudge to do something for the Lord, but kept ignoring it because you were afraid of someone’s reaction?
The great news is that our Savior provides a way to overcome the shadow of self doubt. Here is one of my favorite verses and a sweet thought to soak into your soul this week:
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
Psalm 139:14
You were crafted with sweet, mindful intent.
You may be able to reach someone else in a way that someone else cannot.
Soak this in and let Him start to chisel away at your shadow of self doubt.
