HOW TO GROW YOUR FAITH
FAITH SERIES - PART 1
by Hollie Vaughn
Faith is such a beautiful word.
It has so much depth and meaning. It is something that we cling to even though it is not always tangible.
The word faith is not solely a Christian word. Many people have faith in things that are not of God. The definition of faith is a strong belief or trust in someone or something; an allegiance to a person; something that is beloved with a strong conviction and without question; a belief system.
Faith is a commitment.
In marriage you promise to be faithful to your spouse. That is a commitment of complete and unadulterated allegiance. You are vowing never to seek or pursue another human. Our faith in God should be no different. He should be our number one. Many people place their faith in wisdom, science, government, a job, or even other people, but our devotion and trust should be completely in the Lord. We see many examples of this throughout the Bible.

In this series, we will be looking at a few layers of faith and how we can apply it to our daily lives.
Bible Reading and Study Helps:
Read Hebrews 11 and write out verses 1 and 6.
What stood out to you in this chapter?
Did you associate yourself with a specific person mentioned in this chapter? If so who and why?
I would love for you to post in the comments some of your answers or even a picture of the verses you wrote out. It is encouraging to see how God deals personally with each of us.
In order to grow our faith, we have to find the source of faith.
Romans 10:17
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
You have to hear God's Word and then believe it to be Truth (Romans 10:9-10).
I want to take it even a step further...What is the Truth?
We need the Truth for our salvation.
Jesus is the Truth and the only way of salvation.
John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
The only way to obtain salvation is through Jesus (Romans 10:13).
Jesus is the Word.
John 14:1, 14
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
Another passage I love in regards to Jesus being the Truth is Revelation 19:11, 13, and 16, “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND Lord OF LORDS.” -- Soak that in!
Jesus is the Source of our faith.
We need to be seeking and looking for Jesus in everything and saturating ourselves in the Bible. Then and only then will we see our faith begin to grow.
Hebrews 12:1-2
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Bible Reading and Study Helps:
